PROPHETS: Isaiah 66:1-24
This Scripture is concerning the end times. YaHVaH is telling us ALL that He desires one who is poor and broken of spirit that is zealous for HIS Word. Sacrifices made in vain are like murder, breaking a dog’s neck, or offering up pig’s blood; all of which YaHVaH hates.
At the end of the Scripture though, YaHVaH prophecizes that ALL mankind will prostrate themselves to YaHVaH on the New Moons and every Shabbat.
GOSPEL: Colossians 2:1-23
This entire chapter is Paul’s concern for the brethren afar off in being led away by worldly ways instead of staying steadfast in the Messiah and HIS teachings.
Now, I have heard a lot of people take verse 16 out of context to mean they can eat and drink what they want, as well as not honoring the Feasts, New Moon, and Shabbath. However, let’s look at it. It says “Let no one therefore, be judging you in eating and in drinking, or in respect of feast, or new moon, or Sabbath” ROSNB. Remember, Paul is reminding them not to be taken in by the world in this chapter. So, this verse is referring to the believers not letting the worldly people judge them because they won’t eat certain foods or drink certain drinks. In other words, it Paul is not telling people they can eat and drink anything, but the exact opposite which is to not let the world judge and tempt you into eating and drinking everything. Pop back to Isaiah 66:17, “…and those who eat the flesh of the swine, the abominable creature, and the mouse will all be consumed together – the Word of Hashem” Tanach. The ROSNB says, “…who eat the flesh of swine and the abomination and the mouse, together shall be cut off, declareth YaHVaH.” This is end times remember, so YaHVaH is saying those who ate what He said not to eat will be cut off from Heaven (possibly consumed in the lake of fire). Ouch, OK I won’t let the world tell me I can eat anything.
The second part is saying to not let the world judge you for respecting (honoring) the Feasts, New Moons, and Shabbat. Some people take verse 17 to mean these were all a shadow and aren’t necessary now, but go back to Isaiah 66. See what it’s saying, ALL mankind will honor these days. Therefore respecting these days is not a past-tense shadow, but a present-day shadow of what will become reality for ALL mankind in the last days.
