Tisha B’Av is a 25 hour fast day. The period of time during which we mark the destruction of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem.

Both Holy Temples in Jerusalem were destroyed on this date, unleashing a period of suffering from which our nation has never fully recovered.

The First Temple was burned by the Babylonians in 423 BCE (read more) and the Second Temple fell to the Romans in 69 CE (read more).

It is a time of mourning in which the following activities should not be performed: eating or drinking, bathing or washing, marital relations or intimacy, engaging in outings or trips, wearing fine clothing, or the sending of gifts.  Here is music to listen to during this time: https://youtu.be/22AiqtXyCCA
