KIY TETZE כִּֽי־תֵצֵ֥א (When you go forth) DEUTERONOMY 21:10-25:19
PROPHETS : ISAIAH 54:1-10| GOSPEL : MATTHEW 24:29-42
TORAH:
2110 YaHVaH is giving the Hebrew nation a warning or command here starting off with “When you go forth” regarding going to War. The warning or command is regarding a woman acquired as ‘spoils’ of War, that a warrior desires to be his wife. The woman must do a public declaration for one month, by removing ALL her clothing from her previous life, shave her head, and pare (trim away) her nails. The Hebrew man cannot go into her for that one month, though she lives in his house. After that, he may go into her and she becomes his wife. However, if he despises her and does not make her his wife, he must let her go. He may not sell her for money or merchandise; because he has humbled her in preparation for being his wife.
221 The next warning/command refers to being your brother’s keeper. It starts off talking about a stray ox (cow) or sheep being returned back to your brother (the owner). If you cannot locate the owner, you are to maintain the animal in good health at your place until you can locate the owner. Verse 3 goes on to include your brother’s garments (raiment), then says “any lost thing of thy brother’s”. In other words, if you find something or animal belonging to another, you MUST NOT turn away from trying to return it to the owner. 4 goes on to include a fallen animal. You MUST NOT turn away, but help your brother with the animal.
2115 The second warning/command concerns the inheritance of the sons of a man who has more than one wife. He MUST give the inheritance to the FIRSTBORN son, regardless which wife gives birth and how he feels about her. 2118 The third warning/command is of a rebellious/insulting (who is a glutton and drunkard) son to his mother and father. If he does not accept their correction, they are to take him to the elders where the son is stoned to DEATH, then hung on a tree for the day (not all night). Pretty severe punishment for rebellion, insolence, gluttony, and drunkenness to your parents. Maybe we would not have some of the problems we have today if this was enforced.
225 deals with clothing. A man shall NOT wear a woman’s garment and a woman shall NOT wear a man’s garment. Doing so is a ABOMINATION to YaHVaH (God). A very strong command from Him.
