NITZAVIYM נִצָּבִ֤ים (You are standing) DEUTERONOMY 29:9-30:20

PROPHETS : ISAIAH 61:10-63:9| GOSPEL : JOHN 12:41-50

TORAH:

This reading starts with a continuation of where the previous reading ended, but continuing in the same context. Mosheh had called all of the people to solemnize the Covenant of YaHVaH with them and reminded them of YaHVaH’s deliverance for them up to this point. Now, he begins with “9 You are standing today, all of you, before YaHVaH, your Elohiym: the heads of your tribes, your elders, and your officers – all the men of Israel; 10 your small children, your wives, and your proselyte(stranger) who is in the midst of your camp, from the hewer of wood to the drawer of your water, 11 for you to pass through into the Covenant of YaHVaH, your Elohiym, and into His oath of allegiance that YaHVaH, your Elohiym, solemnizes with you today, 12 to address to establish you today as His people and that YaHVaH be your God, as He spoke to you as He swore to your forefathers, to Av’raham, to Yitz’chak, and to Ya’akov. 13 Not with you alone do I seal this Covenant and this Oath of Allegiance, 14 but with our people which there are here, standing with us today before YaHVaH, your Elohiym, and with our people which are not here with us today.” (translation of original Hebrew in the Tanach). *Note: the Tanach verse 9 is verse 10 in the KJV, so if you’re reading from the KJV, the above verses will be 10 to 15. As you can see, Mosheh leaves none out in the description on who is solemnizing this Covenant with YaHVaH. Mosheh is all-inclusive to everyone.

PROPHETS:

Y’sha’yah (Isaiah) starts off here advising his message is from YaHVaH, with a tidings of relief to the humbled, the brokenhearted, captives, imprisoned, and mourners. A year of favor unto YaHVaH and a day of vengeance for our God. Why? to bring to His people splendor, oil of joy, a cloak of praise, and to be called elms of righteousness. They will rebuild the ancient ruins, renew cities, and restore wastelands. Foreigners will tend their flocks and their crops. And they will be called “priests of YaHVaH” and “ministers of our God.” They will gain the wealth of other nations and be proud in glory. They will receive double portion in their land and eternal gladness.

Amazing that was written to the Israelites thousands of years ago to show YaHVaH’s deliverance from persecution (approximately 740–701 B.C.) This is just as relevant today in this age as it was back then. Just look at it. The Jews were persecuted to almost extinction in World War II and yet YaHVaH delivered them to the point of re-establishing the nation of Israel, calling them ministers to the world, gaining financial stability through wealth from other countries (USA being one of them), and restoring all of the cities and wastelands to viable greenery. Awesome.

GOSPEL:

John here reminds everyone that Isaiah had spoken of the coming Messiah, but they feared Pharisees and loved the praise of men more than God. In verses 44 to 50, Yeshua cried and again tried to get people to believe not on Him, but on Him who sent Him. Yeshua was always guiding the people back to YaHVaH and salvation. He cautions them to hear His words and receive them, but if not they will be judged by the Father, YaHVaH, because Yeshua was speaking YaHVaH’s words. We should take heed to understand this.
