VAIYELECH וַיֵּ֖לֶךְ (And he went) DEUTERONOMY 31:1-30
PROPHETS : ISAIAH 55:6-56:8| GOSPEL : MATTHEW 21:9-17
by Min. Donald H. Garrett

TORAH:
This parashah is all about YaHVaH’s omniscience. He instructs Mosheh to turn the reins over to Joshua (Yehoshua) to lead the people into the promised land. Why? Because Mosheh is about to die at 120 years of age. Mosheh not only tells Yehoshua, but brings Yehoshua in front of the people to make the announcement. Furthermore, YaHVaH tells Mosheh (who then warns the people) to write down all of Torah and a song for the people because YaHVaH already knows the people will turn astray to other gods when they enter the land and become sated with its bounty. Both the Torah and the song are meant as reminders to the people to turn back from other gods to the ONE TRUE Elohiym, YaHVaH.
